Climate in Goa

Beaches in Goa

The name Goa has become synonymous with beaches; the state has some excellent and refreshing sun kissed beaches thronging with tourists.There are various stalls lined up on these beaches offering lip-smacking sea food and other varieties of Goan cuisine popular in Goa. The beaches in Goa are divided into North and South Goa beaches. The North Goa beaches like the Baga Beach and the Anjum Beach are generally crowded. Candelin, Sinquerin, Dona Paula, Miramar are among the other beaches in North Goa. The South Goa beaches include Bogmalo, Majorda, Colva, Agonda and Varca among others.

Churches in Goa

Due to being ruled by the Portugese Goa has many beautiful churches. The Church of Our Lady of Rosary on Monte Santo in Old Goa is the oldest surviving Church in Goa. It was built in 1510 - 1550 AD. Other churches in Old Goa are Basilica of Bom Jesus, the SE Cathedral, Church of Our Lady of Immaculate Conception, the Church of St Cajetan; the Augustine Church of Our Lady of Grace and Rachol Seminary. Rachol Church was built in 1550 - 1660 AD thus it belongs to the Baroque period, which coincided the Renaissance period in Europe. Church of St Francis of Assisi is also one of the famous churches of Goa and it was built in 1660 - 1760 AD known to be the Indian Baroque Period.

Wildlife and Bird Sanctuaries in Goa

Goa also has many Wildlife sanctuaries dedicated to preserve the wildlife of the state. Dr Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary located in an area of around 1.78 sq km, this sanctuary hosts huge varieties of Indigenous and Migratory birds. Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary is the biggest wildlife sanctuary in Goa. It is located in an area of 240 Sq.Km. Bondla wildlife Sanctuary and Cotigao wildlife sanctuary are among the other popular wildlife sanctuaries in Goa.

Dudhsagar Waterfalls: Located on the Mandovi River, Dudhsagar waterfalls are the 5th tallest waterfalls in India. They are 310 meters in height and there is also a shelter built around the waterfalls for the purpose of trekking.
